HMSC13022 Advanced Exercise & Work Physiology
Course description
The aim of the course is to develop skills and knowledge in the areas of exercise and work physiology as they relate to human performance in health-promoting physical activity, sports performance, and the
workplace. The course takes a strong focus on National Health Priority Areas (asthma, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, hypertension, and arthritis) and the role physical activity and exercise have in treatment and prevention of theseconditions. The physiology of endurance, team and speed and power sports is also examined in detail. Students use problem-based learning as the preferred teaching method and develop skills
in research methods and oral and written presentation.
