HLTH20032 Advanced Nursing Informatics

Course description

Students will examine the many facets associated with nursing practice and management in any health setting from an informatics perspective. This course aims to facilitate its graduates to make the best possible use of new and evolving information and communication technologies being introduced in the health sector. New information systems are expected to transform the way nursing services are delivered, documented, reported and researched. Nurses need to be able to influence system development, evaluation and acquisition to ensure that their contribution to health care is visible to all of Australia in a statistical sense. This course aims to facilitate learning the new technologies and how these can best be used by nurses, to support their practice and improve outcomes for care recipients.
