ENTC13004 Theory and Design of Structures

Course description

This course introduces both the design of steel structural elements to Australian Standard AS 4100 and structural analysis. This course introduces students to common structural forms and covers the following methods of analysis: Method of Consistent Deformation, Moment Distribution Method, and Stiffness Matrix Method. Students will use a computer program to analyse trusses and frames. This course also covers the following areas relating to the design of steel elements: tension, compression, bending, shear, web bearing and buckling, and bolted and welded connections.
