ENEM14010 Bulk Materials Handling

Course description

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the mechanical properties of bulk solids, and to develop skills in the design of equipment to handle bulk solids. The course is intended to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental elements of bulk materials handling systems. Analysis techniques and design practices applicable to basic materials handling equipment are presented. An analysis of the behaviour of granular materials in storage and flow situations forms the core of the subject. The study of a bulk solids handling system involves the following essential components: stockpiles, storage bins, bin feeders, conveyors.
