ENEM12002 Engineering Materials (Mechanical)

Course description

This course aims to provide Bachelor of Engineering students in the Mechanical Engineering stream with an introductory understanding of the relationship between the processing, structure, properties and performance of engineering materials. Students are expected to develop this understanding through the synergistic intermixing of scientific knowledge gained from reading and research, and empirical knowledge gained from experimentations. This should provide students with a solid foundation on the appropriate selection of existing materials for a particular engineering application through the understanding of the basis of properties and ways of failures of engineering materials and development of new materials.
