Course description
Pedagogy is central to achieving learning outcomes in students. This course focuses on pedagogical frameworks that explicitly engage learners in the Senior Phase of Learning. This course uses the dimensions of learning as the preferred pedagogical framework based upon contemporary research and practices. A clearly understood pedagogical framework combined with specific pedagogical content knowledge is fundamental to best practice as a learning manager.
Building upon the knowledge and skills developed from the Middle Phase Pedagogy suite of courses and applying these to the Senior Phase of Learning is the focus of this course. In particular, ideas established in dealing with the different situations and contexts of teaching in this phase of learning. The influences of curriculum frameworks and especially those of the post-compulsory years of schooling are examined critically. The nature of convergence of general and vocational education is examined and students are required to become familiar with teaching and learning relevant to at least one Queensland Studies Authority syllabus and/or Study Area Specifications currently taught in Queensland senior secondary schools.
