EDED12339 Teaching Dance and Gymnastics
Course description
The course focuses on two important components of Physical Education: Dance and Gymnastics. In the Dance component, students will have the opportunity to develop their teaching competencies in a wide range of movement and dance forms. The origins of the dance, the types of dances found in Australia, contemporary influences on dance, and dance as a form of artistic expression are considered in this course. The gymnastics component is concerned with examining contemporary forms of formal and educational gymnastics, and students have the opportunity of developing teaching competencies in these areas. The origins of gymnastics, the use and care of equipment, and an examination of safety procedures appropriate to this activity are considered. Students will be required to complete one coaching award in these areas.
