EDED11280 Psychology of Communication

Course description

Communication is the foundation of teaching. Teachers, as professional communicators, communicate with learners, colleagues, administrators, parents and community representatives. This course introduces the theoretical concepts of intrapersonal and interpersonal communication, further develops student's communication skills, identifies barriers to deriving meaning from communication, and outlines strategies for overcoming communication barriers. Students are required to synthesise and apply the theoretical communication concepts introduced in this course, to the particular context in which they work or communicate with the aim of improving interpersonal effectiveness, classroom communication and professional communication.
