CULT11001 Communication, Culture & Communities
Course description
This course looks at the relationship between communication, cultures and communities and how factors such as globalisation and new media technologies influence this relationship. The different communities we belong to - those based on our local area, nation, interests, and so forth - shape our cultural values and tastes, our identity and the different ways we communicate and make sense of life. Drawing on examples from popular media and everyday life, students will explore issues and challenges involved in communicating across different cultural and community contexts.
