COMM12020 Communication in the Digital Age
Course description
A contextual approach to developing an understanding of the basics of communication. The emphasis is on public communication, using speech, print, visuals, and the World Wide Web as the primary means of ensuring a common understanding of meaning between audiences. The course explores current and emerging theories of human communication; the development of Internet and web technologies and their impact on individuals, organisations, cultures, and instructional communication. Electronic tutorials, chatroom and on-line discussion groups are used to ensure students have practical experience, as well as theoretical understanding, of electronic communication methodologies.
