COMM12016 Mass Media and Journalism
Course description
This course aims to provide students with critical perspectives on journalism and the Australian mass media. It analyses contemporary and political contexts, important issues such media ownership and diversity, sources and independence, as well as identifying professional and technological changes in journalistic practice and organisations. The course encourages an understanding of the institutions and industries in which journalists work, and promotes student research and writing skills in order to further their training and awareness.
