ACCT20047 Strategic Cost Management
Course description
This course enables students to: appreciate the difficulties in setting goals of an organisation; participate in the development of an organisation's mission statement; understand the "value chain" for a firm's product; identify the role of accounting in the value chain, in design, processes, packaging, choosing customers; implement business process re-design and implement Activity Based Accounting and other recent developments in MCS. Topics include: Setting of organisation mission; Value Chain and the generation of profits; Role of Accounting in the Value Chain; Activity Based Costing and its relationship to BPR, JIT, TQM; Influence of the external environment and internal organisation.
