This course examines the historical context of selected Asian and Pacific Rim countries and the resultant impacts on tourism. The socio-cultural, economic, and environmental impacts of past, current and future tourism practices will be studied, as will be the various tourism policies and strategies of the selected countries. Case studies will be used as part of the learning process, and the countries selected for study may change from year to year depending on staffing expertise.
