This course aims to enable research students to select and employ procedures for the collection, processing, analysis and interpretation of information that are appropriate to their research projects.
After a brief review of basic statistical terms and concepts, the course will concentrate on developing an understanding of multivariate analytical techniques including multiple regression, canonical correlation, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis, partial least squares path analysis (PLS) and linear structural relations analysis (LISREL), and hierarchical linear modelling (HLM).
In addition to the theoretical discussions, the course will also enable research students to use the relevant statistical packages, including the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS), for data processing and analysis.
