This course introduces the principles involved in designing experiments and the subsequent methods of statistical analysis. The designs examined are completely randomised, randomised block, latin square, incomplete block and split plot. Factorial treatment structures are considered along with the issues of confounding and fractional replication. Methods of checking the validity of assumptions are discussed. Emphasis is on designing experiments to meet objectives, carrying out the statistical analysis and interpreting the results. Statistical computer software is required. (This same course previously used the code: MATH12175. Students MUST NOT attempt both courses).
