MATH12157 The Mathematical Experience

This course is designed to meet the needs of students, especially those enrolled in an education program, who seek an overall knowledge of the discipline of mathematics. It will give the student an appreciation for the power, beauty and utility of mathematics using case studies and problem solving in algebra, geometry, probability and statistics. The historical developments and philosophical aspects of any topic are included where they are important. The course is at a pre-calculus level and assumes little previous knowledge. Hands-on tutorials are a feature.
