This course aims to allow students to experience the full design process of an instrumentation system, starting from problem definition, through concept design and specification, to layout and detail design, finishing with documentation. On satisfactory completion of this course, students will be able to describe the process of typical instrumentation system design; describe design standards, as well as environmental and safety legislation governing instrumentation system design work; and describe their experience in the instrumentation system design process and reflect on their adherence to the Engineering Code of Ethics.
