ECOM13003 Electronic Commerce

This course is an introduction to electronic commerce - a term which means the sharing of business information, maintaining business relationships, and conducting business transactions by means of telecommunications networks. The course explains what electronic commerce is, what are associated security issues, business strategies and management issues, and examines pertinent technology standards and protocols. Students undertake in-depth study and a project in one of four areas of electronic commerce: (i) marketing, (ii) legal and security concepts, (iii) purchasing and supply, or (iv) new technologies such as software agents and networked multimedia databases. Access to the Internet is required for this course.
