This course will further develop abilities to employ raster-based data in geographic information systems. Students will study some advanced techniques in the creation, editing, manipulation, analysis and presentation of raster-based spatial data. Advanced abilities will be developed to use such data to produce maps and GIS layers, and to interpret remote sensing information. Stress will be placed on appreciating the practical utility of maps, GIS and remote sensing for research and problem solving. Additionally, concepts in spatial data presentation including delivery of spatial data on the World Wide Web will be presented.
