Students will examine the oral communication of science in different contexts with a view to establishing a set of criteria by which such communication may be judged to be successful. Armed with this knowledge, they will critically analyse science communication, and hone their skills at presenting science orally, and successfully. Students will range through all aspects of the oral communication of science, ranging from technological assistance, through the various elements that an oral communicator needs to consider in preparing a presentation, through an examination of the power relationships that are established in oral communication, and the history of the communication of science.
