This program is offered to students wishing to pursue a career in teaching and/or education research. A candidate for this degree shall enrol initially in one of the Bachelor of Education programs and may, subject to satisfactory performance, be permitted to enrol for the degree on Bachelor of Education upon application to the Dean, Faculty of Education & Creative Arts.
The aim of the Honours year is to provide high achieving students from the first three years of a Bachelor of Education program (or its equivalent) the opportunity to pursue an area of knowledge through more focused study and research. The Bachelor of Education (Honours) provides a means for students to progress directly to higher degree research at masters or doctoral level.
The program is equivalent to a fourth year of study and as such provides the basis for application for teacher registration.
Prospective students who have completed at least an initial three year education award at another recognised university and who are eligible to apply for teacher registration, also may apply for entry to the Bachelor of Education (Hons). In exceptional circumstances students with outstanding results in non-education university degrees may be considered for entry into this course for the specific purposes of research training.
