Program Overview

As registered nurses it is recognised that students have expertise in their particular field of nursing practice. The course is directed towards strengthening the theoretical base of nursing practice and providing a general academic background similar to that of other health professionals. The course will enable graduates to integrate the functions of practitioner, promoter of health, critical thinker and researcher.

The course is open to both registered nurses who hold a diploma in nursing from a college or university and to registered nurses who hold a nursing certificate from a hospital based program within their own country. All applicants must hold a current general nurse registration certificate which indicates their authority to practice as a registered nurse in their own country (or State of Australia). International students will be expected to meet the requirements regarding English standards which enable them to cope with study of an Australian education program.

This program does not prepare the student to gain registration as a nurse in Australia. Registered nurses entering this program are given two years of study exemption of this three year degree in recognition of their prior learning. Therefore no further credit will be given.
