Enrolment Information

Admission

  1. Undergraduate HECS admissions to the Autumn and Winter terms will be via the following QTAC offer round dates:
    • QTAC Round 1: (early December 2002) (external students & CQCM offers only).
    • QTAC Round 2: (mid January 2003) Major offer round for all undergraduate students for the Autumn term.
    • QTAC Round 3: (early February 2003) (internal student offers only) Finalises QTAC offers to undergraduate students for the Autumn term.
    • QTAC (Mid Year): (mid/late June 2003 for Winter term) (internal & external students offers).
  2. Postgraduate and direct, including fee-paying domestic (non international students)
    On time admission dates are:
    • 30 November 2002 - Autumn term
    • 31 May 2003 - Winter term
    • 17 September 2003 - Spring/Summer term combined.

No new admissions are accepted for the Spring term and Summer term intensives for domestic fee-paying students. Late admissions will be accepted on a case-by-case basis in consultation with faculties.
  3. The only new admissions, which will be accepted into the Spring and Summer terms, will be from international fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  4. The University does not admit new HECS-liable undergraduate students into the Spring, Summer and Spring/Summer combined terms.
  5. All admissions are subject to the availability of approved faculty program and course offerings.

Enrolments

  1. Only internal student enrolments will be accepted into the Spring and Summer terms (6 week intensive).
  2. Only external students enrolments and internal student enrolments at AIC’s and off-shore campuses will be accepted into the combined Spring/Summer term (12 week).
  3. Prerequisites: the timelines for marking and finalising results are very tight, particularly between the Winter and Spring terms, and between the Summer and Autumn terms. For these reasons it is recommended:

3.1  Continuing students enrolling into Spring term and the Spring/Summer terms should enrol into courses for which they have completed prerequisites in the Autumn term or earlier. 3.2  Continuing students enrolling into the Summer term should be enrolling into courses for which they have completed prerequisites in the Winter term or earlier.

  4. Last date to add courses
The last date for enrolment and/or adding of courses is end of Week 2 for the Autumn and Winter terms, end of Week 1 for Spring & Spring/Summer combined terms and end of Week 2 for Summer term.
  5. Certification Dates
Wherever possible, 4 weeks is allowed from the end of the official examination period to the Certification of Grades to enable return and marking of examination papers.
  6. Withdrawal without Academic Penalty
Last day to withdraw without Academic Penalty for Winter term is 8 August, end of Week 4 as the Census date falls too far within the term (end of Week 7).
  7. Census Dates
Census dates for all terms are in accord with DEST requirements. The Spring, Summer and Spring/Summer terms combined are considered by DEST to be ‘non-standard’ terms for which the census date is 14 days after the commencement of term, if the term is 6 weeks or more in duration.
  8. The Census date for Autumn term 2003 (31 March) is end of Week 4.
  9. The Census date for Winter term 2003 (31 August) is end of Week 7. As Census date falls on a Sunday, tuition/HECS payments must be finalised by Friday, 29 August.
