PSYC13022 Learning
This course gives students an understanding of
the environmental factors that control and modify animal (including
human) behaviour. Theories of behaviour, especially quantitative
theories are stressed and discussed in relationship to both animal
and human research. Both basic and advanced theoretical principles
and some more applied issues in the area of learning and the experimental
analysis of behaviour are covered. There is a broad coverage of
the principles of reinforcement, operant conditioning, respondent
(or classical) conditioning, and stimulus control. More applied
issues discussed include: concept formation, problem solving, language, reasoning,
and behavioural sports psychology. It is a requirement of enrolment
in the course that students have access to the Internet.
