This course aims to develop the basic engineering skills and understanding including:

• self and group management skills
• the capability to research and analyse problems and to identify a range of appropriate solutions
• an understanding how ethical, environmental and social factors influence technical decisions
• oral, written and graphical communication skills
• an understanding of the broad history of engineering, technology and science and their relation to society.
