BMED11001 Introduction to Biomedical Science
This course, which emphasises inquiry-based learning
activities, explores a number of issues, including: the
discipline scope of the biomedical sciences, historical
aspects, information, gathering, ethical issues,
controversies, team dynamics, communication and
presentation skills. The central aspect of this course
will be the interaction of themes and activities which
require students to integrate theory and practice in the
exploration and consideration of issues such as, the
application of scientific knowledge and principles; the
analysis of regulations, ethical guidelines, codes of
conduct, and what generally counts as `good practice'.
Where appropriate, students will be required to
participate in activities such as making and evaluating
applications for ethical review of experiments,
processing, storing and using information and role
playing from a variety of perspectives.
