BLCN12037 Construction Planning
Offered from Winter 2002
This course develops an understanding of construction
planning and scheduling including: the role of the
construction planning consultant; developing an initial
job appreciation relating to labour, materials, plant and
time; understanding the sources of data
(Documentation, estimates, Bill of Quantities);
construction planning methodologies; construction
planning tools including bar charts, critical path
analyses and applications, line of balance, level of
detail; incorporating design processes, product and
design approvals into construction planning; cash flow
projections; detail schedules for sub-contract activity
including analysis of assembly and production, bar
charts and critical pattern analysis, line of balance,
least cost optimisation, multiple activity chart planing
and control, expediting contracts; use of computer
programs in scheduling and network analysis and
introduction to management software.
