MGMT20074 Integrating Organisational Processes
The purpose of this course is to provide students
with an introduction to the processes fundamental to most organisations
- how they add value through designing, producing, marketing, delivering
and supporting their products and services. Rather than the traditional representation
of business as discrete functionally defined activities, this course
presents business organisations as integrated systems with all functional areas
of the business contributing to each of the various stages of the
value chain.
On successful completion of this course, students will be
able to:
- critically evaluate traditional
perspectives of business processes;
- identify problems with functional structuring of organisations
in environments which demand flexibility and customer orientation;
- apply the concept of value-chain analysis to the firm's
operations, with a focus on the integration required for efficient
and effective operation;
- identify and evaluate recent approaches to improvements
in competitiveness of the firm through quality programs related
to value-adding.
