Topics to be covered in this course include: Anode production (including petroleum coke manufacture, pitch production, spent anode cleaning, crushing, sizing, mixing, vibro-forming, baking and rodding); magnesium chemical refining (hydrochloric leaching, purification and dehydration); nickel pressure acid leaching; reduction process (Hall-Heroult and magnesium); metal casting (ingot, VDC, HDC and homogenisation); downstream processing; specific simulation and modelling.
