COIS20024 Information Systems Overview
On completion of this course students should
possess a sound knowledge of basic concepts relating to the use
of computer hardware, software and computer-based information systems
in a business environment. The course also provides the student
with an understanding of management issues concerning information
systems. For their assignment work, students must have access to
any type of computer on which they can use productivity software
packages such as a word processor, a spreadsheet and a database
package. If you have recently completed studies in Decision Support & Intelligent
Systems in an Australian undergraduate program, you are advised
to seek substitution for this course if it is compulsory for your
current program. Alternatively, if your program allows, you may
seek exemption.
Access to the Internet is highly desirable
as Internet use is an integral part of the teaching strategy. Students
who are unable to arrange Internet access must contact the program
coordinator before the commencement of Week 2.
