Bachelor of Nursing Informatics (Honours) CR01

Program Overview

This program will develop:

  • Knowledge in specialist areas of nursing informatics;
  • Skills which are fundamental to research; and
  • Competence in the communication of knowledge and ideas, both orally and in reports.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirement is a Bachelor of Nursing Informatics degree passed at Credit level or higher. Applicants holding both a current general nurse registration certificate and an undergraduate computing or information technology degree (e.g. Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Informatics or Bachelor of Electronic Commerce, or a qualification deemed equivalent) passed at a Credit level or higher will be considered for entry. Such students may be required to undertake preliminary study in the current Bachelor of Nursing Informatics undergraduate program before commencing the Honours program. The general nurse registration certificate must indicate the authority to practice as a registered nurse.

Note: CQU is an academic institutional member of the International Medical Informatics Association (I.M.I.A.)

Content for Informatics Topics A and B can be chosen from any informatics area pertaining to nursing practice in any health care setting.

One of informatics Topics A and B can be replaced by HLTH11005   Nursing Informatics or HLTH12003   Foundation of Health Information Science or an equivalent credit course at the appropriate level from this or any other university provided this course was not undertaken as part of the primary degree.
