The Masters Degree by Research is a program of supervised research and study leading to the submission of a thesis which makes a contribution to knowledge. The program is governed by the Rules for Masters Degrees by Research which provide details regarding all aspects of admission, progression, submission and examination of the thesis. Consultation with the Associate Dean (Research) of the appropriate faculty will assist applicants to determine eligibility for admission, to identify the proposed areas of research and to ascertain the availability of suitable supervisors. Applicants who do not satisfy any of the above criteria may be required to undertake a Masters qualifying/enabling program, normally of one year's (full-time) duration, as specified in the University's resolution on Masters qualifying programs. Program StructureTo complete the program, a candidate will normally study for an expected period of 2 years (full-time) or 4 years (part-time). New candidates may enrol at any time of year and continuing candidates must re-enrol at the beginning of each academic year. The courses in which Masters students enrol are ungraded.
