GraduationGraduationGraduation is the formal acknowledgment that students have satisfactorily completed all requirements of academic programs. Role of Graduation SectionThe Graduation Section of Student Administration manages the Universitys graduation process, and is responsible for the planning, preparation, coordination and staging of the Universitys graduation ceremonies. Within this capacity, the Graduation section performs functions such as distribution of testamurs and graduation ceremony related information. Candidate ResponsibilityStudents should be aware that it is their responsibility to ensure correct knowledge of conferral dates, eligibility, ceremony locations and times. This information appears on the Universitys website. Students should update their Expected Graduation Term date through the e-rolment process to ensure their names are recorded on potential graduands lists. Change of Name and Address
Graduation CeremoniesGraduation ceremonies are formal University celebrations to present graduates with awards. Attendance at a ceremony is only permitted after the official certification of eligibility to graduate has been processed. Following each conferral date, the Graduation Section will confirm eligibility by mail to graduates. Attendance at Graduation Ceremonies is optional. Graduation DocumentsGraduates who choose to attend a ceremony will collect their graduation documents at that ceremony. Graduates who choose to not atend a ceremony will be advised of their options with regard to receipt of graduation documents. Once graduation documents have been collected/distributed, however, attendance at future ceremonies is not permitted.

Fees and ChargesFees and charges are payable as set out in the Schedule of Fees and Charges, which are shown on the University WWW home page or are available from Student Administration. The Vice-President and Registrar shall specify dates by which an applicant or a student must complete elements of the admission or enrolment process. Fees listed in the schedule will be payable by an applicant or students where elements of the admission or enrolment process occur after the specified dates. On completion of any term of study, a student who is a debtor
to CQU shall not be entitled to receive course results, an academic

On completion of any term of study, a student who is a debtor to CQU shall not be entitled to view or receive course results, an academic history, or any other academic document. A Student Debtor will not be granted an award. In any case in which by reason of special circumstances the charge to be paid, the time when a charge is payable, or any other matter necessary to be determined in order to enable the application of this rule to that case, is not specifically provided for in this rule, the Vice-President and Registrar shall have the power and authority to decide any question necessary to be decided in order to determine the matter.
Workplace Health and SafetyCentral Queensland Universitys policy aims to achieve the optimum attainable level of workplace health and safety as far as is practicable for all staff, students and other persons throughout all areas of its activities. It is the responsibility of all CQU personnel to ensure the implementation of safety systems appropriate to their delegated operational authority. It is the responsibility of supervisory staff at every level to ensure that safe working procedures are clearly understood and consistently observed. Supervisors shall also ensure that all plant and equipment in use is in safe working order and workplace conditions are maintained at a high standard. All members of CQU including students have a duty to care for their personal welfare and the welfare of their fellows. To meet this commitment, each person must follow safe working procedures at all times, and take all reasonable care to prevent personal injury or injury to others and damage to plant and equipment. CQU will achieve this by careful attention to all aspects of workplace health and safety in accordance with the Queensland Workplace Health & Safety Act 1995, the Workplace Health & Safety Regulation 1997 & (Misc) Regulations 1995 and the relevant Codes of Practice. In support of this policy, CQU has created Health and Safety Committees, appointed Health & Safety Officers and established the necessary systems. Participation of and consultation with staff and students takes place through the University Health & Safety Committees. A Health and Safety Unit, staffed with qualified personnel, acts as the Universitys management arm to provide guidelines on, and training in, safe work practices and control of hazards in the workplace. The University is conscious of its responsibilities and seeks cooperation and commitment from all staff and students to create a workplace environment aimed at accident prevention and health promotion. The University has adopted a policy of NO SMOKING within its buildings. Copies of the policies and guidelines on various issues such as First Aid, Fire Evacuation, HIV, Hepatitis B & C, etc. can be obtained from the University faculties, divisions and the Health & Safety Unit. The Universitys Procedures for Reporting Accidents and Hazards are available from the Health & Safety Unit.
