TOUR11004 The Business of Tourism:
Core Skills
An ability to master generic written, oral and
research skills is essential to effective functioning in the business
and tourism environments. Equally important is an awareness of ethical
issues and responsibilities, both in working as a team member and
in terms of individual and industry standards. This course provides
an introduction to these basic concepts in an interactive format
in which the students are encouraged to apply the information to real
world scenarios, including their own experiences.
The course is designed as a core course in the Bachelor of
Tourism and aims at equipping students with a range of written,
oral, and research skills that underpin the other courses in this
program.
Assessment is by way of assignment, case study, presentations,
and mid-term examination.
