THTR11096 Australian Drama
Since the performance of Ray Lawlers Summer
of the Seventeenth Doll in the mid 1950s, a renaissance
in Australian Drama has occurred that has resulted in several distinctive
Australian styles of drama. This course covers the comedy of David
Williamson, the absurd work of Jack Hibberd, the
lyricism of Dorothy Hewett and Michael Gow, and the naturalism of
Ray Lawler, and Peter Kenna. In the internal mode, practical drama
workshops will supplement the lectures on script analysis.
