Physics as the basis of technology (Part 2). Electricity: Ohm’s and Kirchhoff’s laws, potential divider, Thevenin’s and Norton’s theorems, alternating current theory, series and parallel circuits; Waves and Optics: Equation of wave motion, Superposition of waves, Resonance, beats, Doppler effect, Total internal reflection, Prisms, mirrors and lenses, Photometry. Heat: Measurement of temperature, states of matter, calorimetry, expansion, heat transfer, ideal gases, 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics, kinetic theory. Practical work includes the development of written and oral communication skills.
