MUSC12044 Voice & Vocal
Performance
This course begins with the ways the body communicates
meanings in non-verbal language and how it is used to express ideas
without voice. The course moves on then to a study of the anatomy
of voice production and the way sounds are formed. Impediments to
speech are analysed and ways to modify these studied. The principles
of breathing, phrasing, emphasis, meaning of words and ideas, gesture,
correct pronunciation and distinct articulation are studied. Voice
practice is followed through in speech and song through individual,
group, ensemble and choral works.
