GEOH19003 Social & Economic
Geography of Japan
This course is a cultural and socio-economic
study of Japan, Australias most important trading partner
and focuses on two important features of Japan; the society and
the economy. It examines the nature of Japanese society including
characteristics of the population, patterns of human settlement
and the growth of urban agglomerations. A geographical perspective
is emphasised in tracing the social and economic development of
the country by establishing spatial linkages and determining physical and
cultural influences in the emergence of modern Japan as an economic
giant of the world.
