EDED11282 Educational Research Methodology
Not offered in 2001
What is research? How is it designed? What do researchers
actually do? In response to these questions, this course seeks to
provide a broad and general overview of social research and, more
specifically, educational research, for those who have little or
no prior experience in research activity. It examines the differences
and relationships amongst research methodologies, methods and techniques,
exploring such methods as experimental research, ethnography, case study,
action research, and discourse analysis, as well as their associated
techniques of data collection and analysis. The course also discusses
issues of research ethics and management, and provides opportunity
for students to write research proposals and reports in combination
with small scale research projects.
