EDCU12010  Music Curriculum


Students gain an understanding of the developmental nature by which children learn music in this course. Topics are designed to include the listening, performing, and translative skills necessary to design a program of activities for involving children in music experiences. A selection from the approaches of Orff and Kodaly provide the basis of student involvement at the experiential level. Further insights into child development in relation to music are gained by studying those elements of music which are applicable to the school situation. Concurrently, a philosophical basis for an understanding of the place of music in education is developed.
