Media
Not offered in 2001
This course is divided into two separate but related sections.
The first section considers how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
people have been represented in or portrayed by the mass media in news,
documentary and entertainment formats. It also investigates positive
measures by which Aboriginal people might be given a wider and fairer
representation within mainstream media. The second section covers the
efforts and initiatives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
people in producing their own media and investigates ways of developing
further projects and strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander media.
