COIT13147 Networks
In this course you will be introduced to the
concepts and characteristics of Local Area Networks (LANs). A LAN
is a communications network that provides the interconnection of
a variety of data communicating devices within a small area. For example,
a LAN may interconnect computers, terminals, peripheral devices,
sensors. Typically a LAN will run at high data rates (0.1 to 100
Mbps) over short distances (0.1 to 25km). There is a special emphasis
on the TCP/IP protocol suite used in networking.
