CHEM12018  Drug Discovery

This course will examine current methods of discovering new compounds with significant bioactivity, including natural product extraction and combinatorial chemistry in combination with high throughput screening, molecular modelling. Identification methods, including nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, and an introduction to retrosynthesis and synthesis methods will also be examined.

Distance education students will be required to attend a residential school for this course.
