Planning and policy development for tourism is predicated upon ecologically sustainable practices. This course examines various methods, strategies and processes used to achieve ecological sustainability through tourism planning and tourism policy development. These include the precautionary principle, limits of acceptable change, recreational and tourism opportunity spectra, resource inventories, and public participation through to legislative processes and practices.
