ENEV20002 Waste Minimisation & Cleaner Production
This course provides a framework for improvements
in resource management in industry, commerce and government. It
emphasises pro-active approaches to resource management through
the concepts of resource conservation, waste minimisation, cleaner
production and pollution prevention. Its prime focus is on waste
reduction, materials and energy recovery, and pollution prevention
as alternatives to end of pipe waste disposal
and pollution control strategies. The course provides a framework
for sustainable waste management through planning and design, waste
management and operational practices, resource recovery and reuse, treatment
and ultimate disposal. The course also considers the adoption of
clean technologies and recovery of hazardous materials where environmental
and health benefits can be achieved by economically and socially
acceptable means.
