ACCT20067 Advanced Taxation
This course has multiple inter-related objectives.
First, it reviews the skills of statutory interpretation and legal reasoning
in general, as required for specialist taxation study. Secondly,
it undertakes an in-depth analysis of key aspects of the assessable
income and allowable deduction tax base, and related matters, as
prescribed by the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 (Cth) as amended.
Topics include: statutory interpretation; aspects of legal
reasoning; principles of assessable income; assessability of capital
gains; allowable deductions; residence of taxpayers; source of income;
and tax accounting.
