ACCT20051 Accounting Information
for Decision-Making
The aims of this course are to give people without
an accounting background:
- a working
knowledge of recording processes used by accountants
- an understanding of the information that is provided
by an accounting information system
- an insight into the managerial problems that are based
on accounting information
- an introduction to utilising accounting information for
problem solving
- a chance to apply the knowledge learned to actual case
studies.
Topics include: introduction to accounting; financial statement
analysis; how accounting information is recorded - the concepts
behind accounting; how accounting information is recorded - recording
the information, and raising capital; accounting and the manufacturing
sector; cost behaviour; product costing systems; decision making
- short term; decision making - long term; responsibility accounting;
budgeting; budgeting - performance evaluation and designing a management
accounting system.
