Program Overview

Students studying courses in the certificate will obtain the basic knowledge required to undertake occupational health and safety duties in the workplace without having the commitment of a full undergraduate degree. Courses include topics such as hazard identification and risk control, safety auditing, accident investigation and analysis, rehabilitation management and either occupational hygiene or ergonomics. Students who successfully complete these courses and wish to study more, will have the courses accredited to the degree course.

Graduates will also qualify for the Workplace Health and Safety Officer Certificate awarded by the Department of Employment, Training and Industrial Relations and the Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator Certificate accredited by Workcover. Industry experts have been consulted throughout the developmental stages, to ensure graduates possess the qualities and skills that are deemed to be most important by future employers

Program Structure

Students must complete three compulsory courses as scheduled and choose the fourth course from the courses indicated.
