Residential Schools


There are 4 core courses with a compulsory residential school for Flex Students and 2 for Internal students. These are:

 

 

There is an optianl residential school for HLTH11027.

 

Residential dates for these courses are documented within the residential school timetable http://content.cqu.edu.au/HandbookAdmin/schools.jsp.

 

For OCHS13010 there is a two week block as per the residential school timetable. Students must have successfully completed the prerequisites OCHS13008 and OCHS13016 and be currently enrolled in OCHS13010 to be eligible to attend the Applied Worksite Analysis residential school.

 

Application for Credit Transfer

 

Credit transfer will only be granted where a student is able to demonstrate that tertiary studies undertaken equivalent in content and depth to the CQUniversity program have been successfully completed. Students should examine the course synopses in this handbook to determine the courses for which they may be eligible to claim exemption.

You can apply for direct credit against CQUniversity courses, if equivalent tertiary level study has been completed. You must supply relevant documentation (study guides, course profiles, etc) to do this. Or, in some programs you can apply for electives outside of CQUniversity range of courses. If your study was undertaken more than 10 years old, you may not be eligible to apply for this as credit.  

 

Rules for the Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

 

To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must complete 3 compulsory courses as scheduled and choose the fourth course from the courses indicated as elective options to a total of 24 units of credit. 

 

  • 3 core courses; and
  • 1 elective course.

OCHS12001 Introductory Occupational Health and Safety (T1)
OCHS12005 Risk Management and Safety Technology (T2)
OCHS13011 Occupational Rehabilitation and Compensation (T2)

plus 1 elective

Choose any from the following:

OCHS13008 Human Factors (T1)
OCHS13016 Occupational Health, Hygiene and Toxicology (T1)
OCHS12015 Law and Management of OHS (T2)
OCHS12002 Fundamentals of OHS Practice( T1)

Offered as an interim/exit award for CQ26 BOHS and an interim award for ALL programs where the student completes the 4 relevant courses.

 

Please note

  1. Students are advised to take the courses in the pre-defined order thus acquiring the knowledge that will be assumed in the presentation of course material at advanced levels.  Students will be individually responsible for gaining the assumed entry-level knowledge of any course they elect to take out of sequence.  For more information or assessment of prior learning, please contact the specific course coordinator.
  2. Students who wish to undertake a Rehabilitation Coordinator role in Queensland there is an opportunity to take the Queensland Competency (Q-Comp) exam within OCHS13011 (Queensland legislation and technical application). Successful completion of the exam allows students to apply for a Q-Comp Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator Certificate. Please see the course profile for more information.

Computing Requirements

 

It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that students have access to the CQUniversity website. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.

 

It is strongly recommended that students have access to a broadband connection or higher to access online student resources that would include but not limited to, email, internet, video streaming, electronic assessment submission.
