Entry Requirements
Students must have completed English (4, SA) and it is recommended that potential applicants also complete either Biology, Chemistry or Physics to a Yr 12 level. Applications for admission from domestic students should be submitted via QTAC.
Further Study
Completion of the Bachelor of Health Science (Allied Health) may qualify students for progression into specialised postgraduate or graduate-entry programs in areas such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, speech pathology or public health. Students are encouraged to contact the Head of Program to discuss specific requirements relating to such further studies.
Computing Requirements
It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that students have access to the CQUniversity website. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.
It is strongly recommended that students have access to a broadband connection or higher to access online student resources that would include but not limited to, email, internet, video streaming, electronic assessment submission.
Field Placements
Field placements are compulsory in Years 3 of the program. Placement occurs in an agency approved by the University. Field education may be organised in metropolitan, urban, regional, rural and remote areas.
Students must complete all courses in accordance with pre-requisites, undertake a successful interview with the fieldwork co-ordinator, and complete all necessary administrative paperwork and some legal documents in order to be eligible for the offer of a placement.
It should be noted that students might incur extra travel and accommodation costs if they choose to undertake a placement outside of their usual area of residence.
Residential Schools
During 2013 there will be residential schools for ALLH11005 Anatomy and Physiology for Health Professionals 1 and PSIO11004 Foundations of Health Professional Practice 1, in Term 1, Year 1. There will be residential schools for PSIO11003 Foundations of Health Professional Practice 2 and ALLH11004 Anatomy and Physiology for Health Professionals 2 in Term 2 of Year 1. Please note 2013 will be the last year that residential schools are offered for these courses.
There will be a residential school for MBIO12013 Microbiology for Health Care, Term 1, Year 2.
